Savoring the Tail End of Summer
There is something special about the last few weeks of summer. The days are still warm, but you can almost feel the promise of a new season just around the corner. Before life shifts into a faster pace, I love taking a moment to slow down and reminisce about the simple joys that make summer so memorable.
For me, summer is one of my favorite seasons for reading. There’s nothing quite like curling up with a good book in a cozy corner of the porch, on the patio, or by a sunny window. It’s a chance to escape into another world while letting your mind and spirit rest. That’s exactly why I created the handcrafted pillows at Origins of Joy. Whether you’re creating a reading nook in your living room or adding comfort to your favorite chair, I hope each pillow invites you to settle in, get comfortable, and enjoy those peaceful moments that often become our favorite memories.
Summer also has its own signature fragrance. It’s the sweet aroma of fresh peaches and juicy watermelon, the tropical scent of coconut and ocean breezes, and the delicate perfume of blooming flowers carried on a warm afternoon wind. Scents have a beautiful way of bringing back memories, and that’s one of the reasons I love making candles. Lighting a fruity, beach-inspired, or floral candle can instantly transport you back to carefree summer days, even long after the season has passed. It’s a simple way to hold onto a little piece of summer while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere in your home.
Before the school bells ring again, the calendars fill with sports practices, homework, meetings, and busy work schedules, I encourage you to pause. Take one more evening to sit outside. Read another chapter of that book you’ve been meaning to finish. Light your favorite candle. Relax on your favorite pillow. Watch the sunset. Laugh with your family. Savor the little moments.
At Origins of Joy, I believe our homes should be more than beautiful—they should be places that restore us. They should reflect who we are, celebrate our culture, and create spaces where joy and peace can flourish.
As summer gently comes to an end, give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy the little things. Sometimes the greatest moments of the season aren’t the big vacations or elaborate plans—they’re the quiet moments spent in a cozy nook, surrounded by comfort, beautiful scents, and the people you love.
Here’s to holding onto the joy of summer, one peaceful moment at a time.
